The Red Lantern Scandals will be released on January 1, 2013!

In the new series The Red Lantern Scandals, writer Teresa Lo seamlessly weaves stories about the lives and affairs of four Chinese-American women struggling to define themselves in Los Angeles.

The busty nightclub hostess Lily Wei dreams of being a singer, but the lecherous music business is no place for a 25-year-old virgin. She’ll have to ask herself whether people just want to sell her as a sexpot, and how far she’ll go to see her dream come true. Her roommate, the insecure Hannah Zhang, is in love with her white, hipster boyfriend. He treats her more like an object than a partner, but love is a complicated master and she finds herself willing to compromise her own romantic desires to fulfill his Asian fetish. Lily’s childhood friends, the Feng sisters, are just as unlucky in love as Hannah. Dr. Elise Feng is a gynecologist who is OCD about germs and disease, and her uptight personality caused her fiance to leave her for a sexy Herbalife employee. On the other end of the spectrum, her younger sister Mona is a complete nymphomaniac. When one of her lovers begins a dangerous obsession with her, will she be able to change her promiscuous ways? Or will her carnal desires take her down a hole that’s too dark to find a way out of?

The Red Lantern Scandals explores the sexuality of Chinese-American women in a way that readers have not previously seen; and with its raw, realistic characters, it dispels and addresses the myths that Asian women are submissive objects.
